Opening night for an exhibit by Jeff Sylvester that runs until Sept. 5.

Jeff Sylvester's work lives between the tension of nature and signal—
between what grows and what transmits. Drawn to the moment when
a bird lands on a tower, or a meteor splits the sky above a forest.
These intersections feel sacred and conflicted. In this body of work
the artist tries to listen to the static and see the beauty in the interference.
The sky is never silent, even when the stars begin to fall.

A recurring theme in Jeff's work is the coexistence of natural
landscapes and modern infrastructure, blending elements like
communication towers, neighbourhoods, roads, and flocks of birds.
The juxtaposition of natural phenomena like bird murmurations with
technological elements can evoke thoughts on collective behavior
and the influence of technology on our society. The aerial perspective
in much of his work draws parallels with how satellites capture our
world. It highlights the intersection of nature and technology in
shaping our perception.

Jeff's compositions are made from meticulously hand cut stencils, a
similar process to silkscreening, giving the work a more graphic feel.
The imagery is applied between layers of resin adding an interesting
depth to the work. The surface is then honed to a satin finish resulting
in a unique sensory experience for viewers.
