City Council passed a new zoning bylaw in 2023 and it came into effect in 2024. The Zoning Bylaw sets the rules for where new buildings should go, what types of buildings they can be and what types of businesses and activities can happen on a property.

As we head into the spring construction season, you may see new and different types of housing in your neighbourhood, including triplexes, rowhouses or backyard housing.

At this information session, you can learn more about the rules that allow these types of housing under the Residential Small Scale (RS) zone. City staff will be available to answer your questions.

The City is also working to reintroduce affordable housing to all areas of Edmonton. City staff will be available to answer questions about City-led affordable or supportive housing developments.

What To Expect

This event is a self-guided drop-in information session. There will be different stations where you can find information and ask questions about the RS zone, on-street parking, infrastructure, developer compliance and enforcement, and affordable housing.

Please select a time to drop in. Capacity is limited per hour to ensure attendees have a chance to find the information they need.
