Health Sciences Workshop designed for high school students interested in exploring the field!
It is an in-person event designed for high school students interested in learning more about the health sciences field through hands-on experience. Lunch will be provided!
Format of the Event:
Participants will have the opportunity to explore a variety of different disciplines and careers in the health sciences as they rotate through 5 different stations:
- First Aid (*Disclaimer: we are NOT teaching first aid, this is just an informational session about first aid techniques and careers)
- Opiods & Genes
- Genetic Counselling
- Blood Pressure
- Vital Signs (Monitoring the Body's Signals)
Although the content covered at each station will differ, the general format will remain the same: a lecture on the topic will be given, followed by interative activities for participants to apply their knowledge and earn points! Points will be totaled at the end of the event and prizes will be awarded.
Participants will also have the opportunity to listen to a panel of guest speakers as they share their experiences. Panelists consist of students and working professionals involved in the health sciences.
