Happy New Year! We are pleased to present four new play excerpts from the Indigenous Playwrights Circle at Workshop West, directed by Josh Languedoc and read by Trevor Duplessis, Christine Frederick, Colby Stockdale and Kaeley Jade Wiebe.

KIYAM-ING

Adelia is a treaty law consultant working in the band office navigating a class action settlement. Six million dollars are missing. It’s a family affair, as all band office politics are, because Adelia’s father Lonnie is the current acting Chief.

A group of young guys grappling with the trials of growing up. Searching for a sense of belonging, they find themselves drawn into communities far more insidious than they could have ever anticipated.

A gay First Nations man who has recently lost everything relocates to his home community to start over. He is quick to learn that his community is in crisis and he uses his unique talents to bring together the community and finds love in the process.
