Byrne McMullen is an up-and-coming saxophonist in Edmonton, Alberta.
He defines himself by his warm, full tone and commitment to creating an authentic sound. Hank Mobley, John Coltrane, Gene Ammons, and Dexter Gordon are his main musical influences. Byrne will be exploring the sound of the organ trio, inspired by artists like Jimmy Smith, Larry Young, and the Wes Montgomery Trio. Byrne is studying music at MacEwan University under Jerrold Dubyk. His current project is entitled “The Blues on the Tenor Saxophone,” where he is reinterpreting recordings of jazz and blues that have profoundly influenced him.
Our live Tuesday Jam is hosted by a musician and a band while audience members join in on the fun by jamming along on stage.
Musicians who want to participate in the Jam can purchase a “Jam Participant” ticket at a reduced cost.
All Jam Participants need to register at the door upon entry to the event.
