A full-length voice & piano recital honouring the 100th anniversary of the death of Giacomo Puccini, and celebrating his incredible music.
Join us for the finale of "O Mio Puccini Caro" at the beautiful CKUA Radio performance space! This historic building, the Alberta Hotel (originally built in 1903), was reassembled on Jasper Avenue, and holds a certain kind of magic in the room. This full length recital is presented by and featuring Cara and Emilio, and they will once again be joined by guest tenor Andrea Pinna. The concert will include the greatest arias, duets, and piano solos by Giacomo Puccini.
After 7 successful performances throughout 2024 in a variety of venues, we're excited to be presenting the final concert at CKUA.
Puccini knew he was meant to be a composer for the theatre when he witnessed his first opera, 'Aida' by G. Verdi. Puccini was a particular composer, and profoundly influenced the world of opera with his deep understanding of music, drama and humanity. He studied piano scores of operas with his teacher in Milan, the Italian operatic capital, where pianist Emilio De Mercato received his masters degree in piano and composition from the Conservatory of Milan.
Cara and Emilio want to acknowledge CKUA's support to the music community, and will be donating $7 from each ticket sold to their fundraising efforts.
