Different data sources are integral to understanding the scope and magnitude of current challenges across the housing system. This session will highlight several key initiatives from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) that have been developed in recent years to respond to identified information gaps, including housing supply estimates and statistical surveys. Former Mayor of Edmonton and current CMHC Chair of the Board of Directors will convene the discussion with Bob Dugan, Chief Economist, and Stephanie Shewchuk, Senior Specialist in Housing Research. The approaches, tools and data sources being used to analyze housing conditions will be presented, as well as how recent findings are informing decision-making.
