Descend into the shadowy depths of folklore-turned-fairy-tale.

The fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm have been children’s classics for generations, but these classics, collected from oral folklore traditions, have origins in a darker realm.

Alberta Ballet has commissioned a world premiere from rising choreographic star Stefania Ballone of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala.  With an extensive background working in contemporary and classical ballet, Stefania will harness the expressive power of dance and delve into the unsettling undercurrents of the Brothers Grimm’s stories.

This world premiere also includes a new score from Taketo Gohara, composed exclusively for Alberta Ballet.

Grimm intensifies the dark side of our childhood favourites. These adult interpretations come to the Jubilee stage just in time to set the mood with thrills and chills ahead of Halloween.

Mature content. Age recommendations to be announced closer to the performance.
