More Information

Witness Genet's iconic play, deftly translated by celebrated playwright Martin Crimp, in a brand new reimagining, taking place in the basement of the historic Pendennis Building on Jasper Ave.

Two young women toiling in servitude escape into sensual fantasies of luxury, violence and revenge in Jean Genet's masterpiece. Loosely based on the notorious and shocking case of the Papin sisters who murdered their employer's wife and daughter, The Maids explores the line where fantasy and reality blur and the stories we weave become indistinguishable from the truth.

THE MAIDS features Hannah Wigglesworth (Richard II, Stratford Festival) as Solange and Julia van Dam (A Phoenix Too Frequent, Northern Light Theatre) as Claire, with Alexandra Dawkins (Brick Shithouse, Fenceless Theatre) as their Mistress. It is helmed by director David Kennedy (Connecticut Critics Circle Award-winner for The Invisible Hand).

Stage managed by Patton Wei with scenic design by Even Gilchrist, costume design by Beyata Hackborn, and sound design by Nick Kourtides.
