Did you ever dream of being an astronaut? Are you worried that you missed your chance? Well, get ready for Astronaut Bootcamp, an adults-only 3-hour training camp that will spark your imagination again... so the next time the Canadian Space Agency is looking for Astronauts, you’ll be ready!

What to expect:

  • Complete a series of training assignments over the course of the evening:
    • Get your PILOT LICENSE to launch a model rocket with the Edmonton Rocketry Club (weather-permitting).
    • THE SKY IS FALLING! Inspect the collection of meteorite hunter Murray Paulson.
    • Learn how and when to witness and photograph the NORTHERN LIGHTS with Alberta Aurora Chasers.
    • Complete ASTRONOMY 101 in the Zeidler Dome to learn how to navigate the night sky.
    • ASTEROID ALERT! Make a crater and learn about the demise of the dinosaurs.
    • Get an introduction to EXOPLANET RESEARCH – can you find the next habitable planet?
    • MEDICAL CHECK! Your coordination will be tested under intense conditions.
    • Grownup science experiments and much more!
  • Explore the Science Centre
    • Don’t miss the S.P.A.C.E. Gallery, where you can try your hand at the Lunar Lander Retro Video Game, take an astronaut selfie and more!
    • Exclusive access to the other permanent galleries and Dinosaurs - The Exhibition.
  • Enjoy a drink or two from the cash bar.
  • Grab dinner or snacks at the Purple Pear Restaurant and check out all things spacey at the Galaxy Gift Shop.
  • Music all night long by DJ Thomas Culture.
  • GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR TOM! For an additional fee, extend and enhance your out-of-this-world evening with Laser Bowie, playing at 10:00 p.m. in the Zeidler Dome!
