We’re getting ready to Find Your Fringe! with our showcase of plays by Alberta playwrights.

See you on Sunday, August 4 (note that this is the FIRST Sunday in August) for our annual Fringe Script Tease, including the following plays:
Let’s Not Turn On Each Other by Jacquelin Walters and Michael Watt
Bethandreth and Cownow have been alone together in the wilderness for a long time, though they may as well be anywhere, because they follow the same strange routine everyday. When a new discovery stirs them to relocate, a bizare and beautiful pilgrimage ensues. Featuring new theatrical folk music by Walters & Watt.
At The Mercy of the Waves by Jordy Wiens
Mira and Perry are surviving grief and the apocalypse the only way they know how: by making the World's Second Best Aluminium Foil Hat. At The Mercy Of The Waves is an absurdist tragicomedy of two siblings coming together, drifting apart, and drinking apple juice.
Spin Cycle by Giulia Romano and Jonathan Ewing
Sunday Scaries, complicated relationships, are we good or are we bad? Emmitt, Leanne, Bishop & Meghan cross paths in an unusual way. Confined to the perpetual hum of tumbling laundry, awkward silence and spirited conversations these four are forced to confront their own morality while waiting for their laundry to finish.
Carter and the Train by Grace Fitzgerald
Carter is trapped in the tiny mountain town of Frightened Man’s Peak, forced to watch the train surrounding its jagged cliffs pass every day with no sign of stopping. But one day, she meets someone. Someone who might just teach her what it really means to be desperate, to escape, and to try to jump a damn train.
The Picture of Elias Graham by Angie Bustos
El Graham's boyfriend is painting a portrait of her and she can’t figure out how to tell him it's wrong. One night, The Girl in the Painting comes to life claiming she wants to help fix what's "wrong" with her. A cruelly intimate relationship develops as they compare their bodies closely and El has to confront why she is so uncomfortable when they touch her. Eventually it becomes clear The Girl is an external manifestation of Elias' internal feelings of gender dysphoria, and he realizes he is a transgender man.
I, Diana by Linda Wood Edwards
Goddess Diana (or is she?) is stuck on the prairies, but she has no trouble bedding and wedding handsome men who resemble celebrities. Ignoring conventions for women and goddesses, Diana forges her path according to the narcissist’s code and, because IT’S ALL ABOUT HER, casualties ensue. Inspired by real life prairie events.
The Spark of Justice: A Tale of Arlyrus by Tory Doctor and Melody McClellan
This choose-your-narrator fantasy adventure tells the same story from five different perspectives. Depending on who the audience chooses as The Architect, this fantasy musical, filled with deception and daring, could change genres with every show. Begin your adventure in the world of Arlyrus!
Microwave Coven by Darrin Hagen and Trevor Schmidt
You’re cordially invited to Maxine’s split-level at 11 a.m. sharp. We’re summoning a demon. Bring snacks.
The Oracle by Rebecca Bissonnette and Corine Demas
What do you do when the voices you hear aren’t your own? Alison misses her dead loved ones. Sabina can’t find her own voice. Turns out Sabina can talk with the departed and Alison can help others unlock their song. Through new friendships, old relationships, songwriting and laughter, Alison and Sabina both take the road down the off beaten path.
Conversations with Cows by Blaine Newton
When the company barbeque goes to hell, a couple is forced to re-examine their relationship, her artistic obsessions, and his colleagues’ betrayal. Sometimes the best way to strike back is to grab a can of paint and go talk with the cows.
