Heartfelt storytelling with Dylan Menzie's indie pop Americana & Western Thistles' authentic folk & country melodies!
Since 2013, Dylan Menzie has been steadily building a catalog of acclaimed, award-winning music. Drawing inspiration from acts like Wilco, Fleet Foxes, and Vampire Weekend; Dylan Menzie is a combination of folk, rock, and pop elements best described as Indie Pop Americana. His dynamic vocals and compelling songwriting have given him the opportunity to showcase and tour across Canada and other countries around the world. In his upcoming 2024 release, North American Dream Kid, Menzie weaves together a collection of vulnerable, catchy, and sometimes ironic songs - with themes surrounding love, depression, the housing crisis, and the abuse of power - to create a narrative about a naive dreamer. Someone trying to make their way in North America, who becomes enraged by the corruption, profiteering and trickery they’re surrounded by - and ultimately seeks an escape to a quiet, love-filled life.
Based in Edmonton, Alberta, The Western Thistles captivate audiences with woody tones and belting harmonies. Formed in 2019, the band was born out of the musical connection between Mark Boer and Bri Huot, who share a deep appreciation for folk, Americana, and outlaw country. United by their love for these genres, they came together to weld their talents for the sake of the song. As both multi-instrumentalists and songwriters, Mark and Bri channel their lived experiences into their music. Their authentic sound is a reflection of day-to-day living, capturing the essence of life through the lens of traditional folk and old-time country music. Their commitment is not just to play music but to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of those who lend an ear. Creating music is more than a passion; it's a dedication to the art of storytelling through song.
