The City of Edmonton is happy to welcome you to a City Farms public event. Join us in growing produce for Edmonton's Food Bank.
Happy International Self-Care Month! The World Health Organization designated this month to raise awareness of and promote self-care practices worldwide. Join us at City Farms on Saturday, July 20th, to celebrate by learning about various self-care and mindfulness practices you can use while gardening and volunteering.
What to Expect: Participants can expect to spend the day outdoors, engaging in hands-on activities. We will be outside for the duration of the event. Please be prepared for a significant amount of walking, as our location is opposite the entrance. Expect to get your hands dirty and be on the move throughout the day.
What to Bring:
- Water Bottle (please bring lots of water)
- Packed Lunch
- Sunscreen
- Weather-appropriate outdoor work clothes
- Closed-toed shoes
- Gardens gloves (if you have them)
- Sunglasses (optional)
What to Wear
- Closed-toed shoes that you don't mind getting dirty
- Full-length pants
- Hat
- Jacket / Rain jacket (optional)
Parking: Participants are requested to park at the entrance of Old Man Creek Nursery by the front office. Please carpool if possible.
Weather Policy
In the event of severe weather, we will contact you to cancel up to two hours prior to the start of your planting program. Severe weather conditions that would necessitate cancellation include:
- Thunderstorms or lightning
- Heat reaching over 40 degrees Celsius (including the Humidex)
- Winds, including gusts, of over 45 km/h
- An air quality health index (AQHI) of 7 or above
