Experience timeless jazz jams and folk wisdom in one unforgettable show!
Chronograph Recording artists The Way Back Whens are a brand-new old-fashioned trad jazz band. Featuring Edmonton’s finest old school players, The Way Back Whens will take you… well, way, way back! An old school jazz street party band with a megaphone, pumping out classic jams and brand-new numbers. The Way Back Whens features a renewed collaboration between Dan Davis on Clarinet and Saxophone and Keith Rempel on Sousaphone and Bass. Dan and Keith are joined by Canada’s best trombonist Audrey Ochoa and tap dancer, Barbara Vargas. Brett Hansen and Daniel Stadnicki bring their inimitable talents on Banjo, Drums and Cymbals to round out the group. Catch them reviving the spirit of jazz street parties on their debut album, "Live at the Yardbird Suite," released this spring
Introducing the one and only PETER PAUL VAN CAMP, a legend in the folk world since 1972. Known for his wit and wisdom, he's received accolades like the Distinguished Rhyming Cross and is a nine-time runner-up for the Coveted Pat Patton Award for Coherency in Eloquence. Standing short for a tall man, and tall for a short, Peter, affectionately known as "Specs," turns 70 with a bold declaration: he's in the show game for keeps. With over 50 years of poetic prowess, he's open to entertaining offers, as long as there's a spot for his water glass and a chair for post-performance relaxation. Though humble, he's a person of interest in certain circles, living by a steadfast motto: "If you need an Old Stager to billow your sail or help shoo the cows off the track, by golly, I'll be there with lard in my hair and my ears pinned back!"
