Consider generative AI's effects on local journalism with Taproot and Ethically Aligned AI at this UpperBound community event

Generative AI has made it exponentially easier to flood the world with junk content (a.k.a. pink slime journalism), but it is also helping responsible media companies carry out their work more deeply and efficiently.

Taproot Publishing co-founder Mack Male and Ethically Aligned AI founder Katrina Ingram will explore the uses and abuses of AI in journalism, as well as what it will take to align the incentives to ensure we all get the information we need. The discussion will be moderated by Taproot's Karen Unland, who is working on AI guidance as a member of the ethics advisory committee of the Canadian Association of Journalists.

This is a community event associated with Upper Bound, Edmonton's annual AI conference. Please register so we know how many to expect! We'll have light refreshments on hand.
