A family concert celebrating the South Asian community in Edmonton.
The Concordia Symphony Orchestra joins Vancouver-based sitarist and composer Mohamed Assani in his work Scheherazade for sitar and orchestra. The ensemble once again unites Eastern and Western music traditions, this time in an exploration of the four elements of Nature: Fire, Air, Earth & Water. Assani will perform in a sitar & tabla duo followed by an essence of Indian dance and singing. Orchestral works include Ravel's Alborada del gracioso, Stravinsky's "Infernal Dance of King Kashchey" from The Firebird Suite, Smetana's Moldau, and Márquez's Danzón No. 2.
Everyone is welcome. Come join the party!
Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the venue.
Paid parking available in the surrounding area.
